Privacy policy

The Flikzi app collects no personal data: it has no internet permission, so what you type never leaves your phone. This website sets no cookies. The only personal data we hold is the email address you give us if you join the waitlist.

This policy covers the Flikzi keyboard app for Android and the website at flikzi.com. They are provided by Huper Technology Pte Ltd (“we”), a company registered in Singapore. We follow Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA), and where it applies to you, the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The Flikzi app

We collect no data through the app. Flikzi requests no Android permissions, including the INTERNET permission, so it has no way to send anything from your phone to us or to anyone else.

  • What you type is processed only on your phone, to show suggestions, correct words and convert pinyin. It is not stored by the app beyond the text field you’re typing in.
  • What the app stores on your phone: your settings, your recently used emoji and the skin tones you picked. This lives in the app’s private storage and is deleted when you uninstall Flikzi or clear its storage.
  • No accounts, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no third-party code that collects data.
  • Crash reports: if you have allowed your phone to share usage and diagnostics, Android and Google Play may send us anonymous crash and performance reports about the app. These come from Android itself, not from Flikzi, and describe the app’s behaviour, not your text. You can turn this off in your phone’s settings.
  • Contacting us: the “Email us” button in the app opens your own email app. If you send us an email, we receive what you choose to send.

Android shows a standard warning when you turn on any keyboard, saying it may be able to collect the text you type. That warning is shown for every keyboard. Flikzi processes your text only on the device, as described above.

This website

  • No cookies and no cross-site tracking.
  • Visitor statistics: we may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you.
  • Server logs: like any website, our servers and our network provider, Cloudflare, process your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. We don’t use logs to track or profile visitors, and log files are rotated and deleted automatically.
  • The demo keyboard on this site runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type into it is sent to us.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we collect and keep:

  • your email address, and when you joined and confirmed;
  • the page and campaign that brought you to the form (for example a link’s utm tags) and the referring website, so we know which places work;
  • if you choose to answer, what device you type on and whether you type Chinese, so we can pick suitable testers;
  • a one-way hash of your IP address, used only to stop abuse of the form. We do not store the address itself.

Why: to email you when Flikzi launches, and possibly to invite you to test it before then. That is the consent you give when you confirm your address, and we don’t use your email for anything else or share it with anyone for their own use.

How: the waitlist is stored in a database on servers we operate, and emails are sent from our own mail server. We ask you to confirm your address before you are added, so nobody can sign you up without your knowledge.

How long: until you unsubscribe, or until 12 months after Flikzi launches, whichever comes first. Then we delete it.

Unsubscribing: every email has an unsubscribe link, or email us and we’ll remove you.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or withdraw your consent at any time. Email hello@flikzi.com and we’ll reply within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority; in Singapore, to the Personal Data Protection Commission.

Children

The Flikzi app collects no personal data from anyone, including children. The waitlist is for people aged 13 and over.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects the waitlist in a way you would care about, we’ll email you first. If Flikzi ever needed the internet permission, this policy, the app’s description and our tagline would all change before the app did.
