Your first five minutes

Flikzi has no shift key and no delete key. Everything they did is now a gesture. Learn these five in order and you’re set. You can also try them in your browser first.

  1. Flick up for a capital. Put your thumb on a letter and flick upwards. Any upward direction works. You won’t need it often: sentences start with a capital on their own.
  2. Slide a space key to delete. Press either space key and slide left. One letter goes per step. Slide right to undelete.
  3. Hold, then slide, to delete words. Hold a space key and watch it change colour: amber is letters, orange (after 1.6 s) is whole words, red (after 3 s) is sentences. Then slide left to delete one per step and right to undelete. Slide up to cancel.
  4. Hold and slide for symbols. Every letter has marks in its top corners. Hold the letter, slide towards the mark, let go. Hold a and slide right for @.
  5. Swipe a letter to delete a word. A quick swipe left across any letter deletes the last word. Swipe right to bring it back.

Mistyped and autocorrect fixed the wrong thing? Swipe left straight after the correction to undo it.

Two bonus flicks​

  • Flick the left space key up to switch between English and 中文 pinyin.
  • Flick the right space key up to capitalise the word you just typed, again for ALL CAPS, and down to undo.
  • Flick the left space key down to hide the keyboard.
