Install and turn on Flikzi

Android asks you to turn on a new keyboard yourself, for your safety. Setting up Flikzi takes two steps and about a minute. You need Android 7.0 or newer.

1. Install​

Install Flikzi from Google Play, then open it. You’ll see the Flikzi settings screen with a card titled Two steps to start.

Flikzi isn’t on Google Play yet. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you when it is.

2. Turn on Flikzi​

  1. On the card, next to Turn on Flikzi, tap Open list. Android opens its list of keyboards.
  2. Turn on the switch next to Flikzi.
  3. Android shows a warning that the keyboard “may be able to collect all the text you type”. It shows this for every keyboard. Tap OK.
  4. Go back to Flikzi.
About that warning

Any keyboard sees what you type, which is why Android warns you. The warning doesn’t say whether a keyboard can send your text anywhere. Flikzi can’t: it has no internet permission. Read more.

3. Make it your keyboard​

  1. Next to Make it your keyboard, tap Choose.
  2. Pick Flikzi from the list.

The setup card disappears once Flikzi is on and chosen. Tap the test field at the top of the settings screen and try it: flick a letter up for a capital.
